PLACES IN UGANDA

BWINDI NATIONAL PARK

In the Bwindi Forest we find a separate gorilla population to those that inhabit the Virunga volcanoes. Taking part in a Gorilla trek is one of the must-do safari experiences when exploring Uganda.

KIBALE NATIONAL PARK

Kibale is the premiere destination for those interested in primate watching, especially chimpanzees, one of the park’s main attractions.

QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK

The beauty of the landscapes in this park led Winston Churchill to call it “the pearl of Africa”. Water safaris on the Kazinga Channel which joins the lakes of Edward and George are simply unmissable.

MABAMBA WETLANDS

This marshy area has been designated of special importance for the conservation of waterfowl by the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands of International Importance. These wetlands are also one the best places in Africa to observe the rare shoebill.

MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK

This park in the north of Uganda is famous for the waterfalls formed here by the Victoria Nile river. As well as barge tours of the river itself, a safari by 4×4 is the best way to explore the wildlife in the surrounding area.

RWENZORI MOUNTAINS NATIONAL PARK

The iconic ‘Mountains of the Moon’, as the Rwenzori Mountains are better known, rise in western Uganda along the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo, and include Mt. Stanley, the third highest peak on the African continent.
